What I Believe
About the Bible
I believe the Bible in its entirety, both Old and New Testaments, is the divine revelation of God. Penned by man but wholly inspired by God, it is completely inerrant and trustworthy. I believe it is the final authority on all matters of faith and living for all believers.
About God
I believe God is the creator of the universe and everything that exists, seen and unseen. I believe God exists as the Trinity in three distinct persons -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit -- with one eternal nature that is all powerful, all knowing, and present everywhere not bound by time. He desires relationship with us and is infinitely good, perfect in love, justice, grace, mercy, and truth.
About Jesus Christ
I believe Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is fully man and fully God. He was born of the Virgin Mary and is the perfect reflection of God's character and glory. He lived a sinless life on earth and offered himself as the only perfect sacrifice for the sin of all humanity. He died on the cross, was physically resurrected three days later, and ascended to the right hand of God. He will return to earth and all who believe in him by faith alone will reign with him for all eternity.
About the Holy Spirit
I believe the Holy Spirit, sent from God, lives in every believer at the moment of salvation. The Holy spirit convicts men of sin, regenerates the believing sinner, teaches, comforts, guides, and empowers believers to develop Christ-like character that leads to godly living and service towards others. The empowering of the Holy Spirit is available to all believers.
About Salvation
I believe man was created in the image of God to live in perfect unity and relationship with him. However, when sin (disobedience to God) entered the world in the Garden of Eden, that relationship was broken and man became separated from him. This separation was handed down to all humanity. God sent his son, Jesus Christ, who lived a perfect, sinless life to provide a way of redemption and restore our broken relationship with God. Through Christ's atoning sacrifice on the cross, we are redeemed. It is by God's grace through faith in Jesus alone that we are forgiven and spiritually born again of the Holy Spirit. Faith alone is the only condition of salvation. Good works and righteous living are the natural product of repentant, believing people.
